Why should I choose Germany instead of another foreign country? Especially an English-speaking country like the US or the UK where I don’t need to learn German?
When faced with the uncertainty of the constantly shifting global status quo, many students find it intimidating to invest time, money, and effort in a foreign language with no guarantee of reward. However, while countries like the US or the UK may seem more appealing at first glance due to the convenience of English, Germany offers many advantages to students that can launch your career.
Cost is a significant consideration for many Indian students. The total cost of earning a degree from FH Dortmund through the URH Pathway Programme- including food, accommodation, commute, and insurance for all four years of the course- is nearly four times less than studying in the US or UK, for the same academic quality.
Most Indian students do not have any work experience upon completion of their higher education, and struggle to find employment abroad as a result. Unlike the US and UK, Germany also allows international students to work part-time on their student visas for up to 20 hours a week while pursuing their degrees. This eases the financial pressure on students and also provides students with valuable early work experience. Students then have a smoother entry into the workforce.
While the US and UK are more well known for their programmes in fields like business management, Germany’s engineering and technical programmes are globally respected, with graduates in high demand internationally. Completing a university degree in German also allows you to demonstrate your linguistic prowess in both English and German, which sets you apart from other candidates in the job market.
